Sitt Appeals to Locals at Town Hall Meeting

This ran in Metro the other day, but never seemed to make it online. Well, better late than never I guess.

Joe Sitt, head of Thor Equities, stood in front a crowd of 70 grumbling locals at United Community Baptist Church in Coney Island this past Tuesday night to see if he couldn’t gather some local support for his development projects.
“You go to Manhattan and you got the fancy restaurants, you got the fancy theaters, you got the fancy bookstores,” Sitt said, “This our chance to have quality of life.”
Sitt used the evening as an opportunity to push new design plans for high tech amusements, 40-foot-tall LED monitors and a Virtual Funhouse maze. Sitt reassured locals that people will want to go to Bizarre Bazar for henna tattoos and local arts and that the hotels offered potential.
“When I drive around South Brooklyn the only hotels I know rent by the hour,” Sitt said. “You can’t have a career in a hotel that rents by the hour.”
Many locals walked away convinced by promises of union jobs for locals, low admission costs for rides and free tickets for kids with good report cards. Others remained unconvinced.
“It’s nice but they haven’t really come up with anything unique,” said Charles Denson, head of the Coney Island History Project, “What Sitt’s proposing is a corporate amusement park.”

Known as the birthplace of the hotdog, Coney Island is at the crossroads now. A mega project is under way to transform this beachfront neighbourhood, much to the dismay of those who want it to stay the way it is.

THE boys and girls of summer were out there in Coney Island. Some men went shirtless, their tattoos seemingly a menacing accessory.

They were there for the Mermaid Parade last Saturday, an annual do to mark the arrival of summer, soaking in the sun and the sea, a pastime that Americans love so much. Click here to read more.

Thor to Give Presentation at Town Hall Meeting Tonight

Thor Equities will be giving a presentation on its vision for the future of Coney Island on Tuesday, June 26 at 7pm. This Town Hall meeting will be open to the public and will take place at the United Community Baptist Church. This will be a great opportunity for everyone interested to get a first-hand look at the wonderful things Thor has planned for Coney Island, and you are all encouraged to come out and let your voices be heard.

Takeru "Tsunami'' Kobayashi said he can only open his mouth to make a gap the size of a fingertip after being diagnosed with jaw arthritis.
