Known as the birthplace of the hotdog, Coney Island is at the crossroads now. A mega project is under way to transform this beachfront neighbourhood, much to the dismay of those who want it to stay the way it is.

THE boys and girls of summer were out there in Coney Island. Some men went shirtless, their tattoos seemingly a menacing accessory.

They were there for the Mermaid Parade last Saturday, an annual do to mark the arrival of summer, soaking in the sun and the sea, a pastime that Americans love so much. Click here to read more.
